Safety

The GFS Group of companies wants to be a leader when it comes to workplace safety. We maintain an experience modification rate (EMR) consistently below 1.00.

Training is the major avenue we use to keep our employee’s working and feeling safe. Each quarter we hold a company wide safety meeting at the Iron Workers Local 63 Union Hall in Broadview, IL. These meetings are voluntary, however, we maintain a consistent turnout above 90%.

Other training initiatives we mandate are annual sexual harassment training, all Superintendents are required to complete the OSHA 30 hour course, all field personnel take the OSHA 10 hour and new hire orientation with HR and our Corporate Training Officer.

Hard hats, safety glasses and high visibility vests, shirts or jackets are all requirements on all GFS job sites. Weekly tool box talks are conducted with all 5 business units.

The GFS Group employs a full time Group Safety Director. This individual holds monthly safety meetings with each business unit. A monthly safety committee meeting and core managers meeting is held as well.

All job sites are audited weekly by the Superintendent and Safety Director. Monthly and Quarterly audits are done by both our insurance company and insurance broker.

We have a zero tolerance drug and alcohol policy including; pre employment, reasonable suspicion, post accident, random and DOT alcohol and drug testing.
